Collective Worship
Collective Worship is an important part of life at St John’s (CE) Academy.
Worship is led daily by the Principal, Vice Principal or other teachers, with a special assembly from Fr Paul Webb the vicar at St John's Church. Each week, on a rota, children have a duty to be Worship Leaders for the whole week – they help tell stories, hold artefacts and always say the prayer when we light the candle to show that Jesus is here with us.
Each half term we have a class assembly, where a class performs an assembly for their parents, their class governor and the rest of the school. Classes are also responsible for an RE Collective Worship each year.
We also go to Church for a service at least once a term, usually for festivals such as Harvest, Easter and Christmas. We invite parents, family members and the church congregation to share these.
We also like to have acts of Collective Worship to celebrate special days at school.
