PE
At St. John’s we recognise the importance of PE and the role it has to play in promoting long term, healthy lifestyles. The intent of our PE curriculum is for all pupils to master fundamental movement skills and understand the importance of movement so that they can enjoy and excel in a broad range of physical activities. We strive to inspire our pupils through high-quality teaching and learning opportunities that teach children how to cooperate and collaborate with others, as part of a team, understanding fairness and equity of play to embed life-long values. When planning the PE curriculum consideration was also taken to incorporate teaching and learning which would also address the unique challenges facing our children:
- Developing resilience and independence skills
- Exposing our children to different national and global issues
- Transferring knowledge and skills into Long Term Memory – ‘Stickability of knowledge and skills’
